About Valencia

About our culture

Although València is known around the world for its paella and for Fallas, our cultural impact is much more than that. Because València is characterised by Joaquín Sorolla’s paintings, the literature of Blasco Ibáñez and the cartoons of Paco Roca as well as rice dishes of well-known chefs.

So, if you are a culture lover, you won’t leave unsatisfied. Because we are a region of bands, and thanks to this passion for music, we host some of the big music festivals and events, from independent music to opera. We also have an extensive network of theatres, with both large and small productions, and 60 cultural sites consisting of museums, monuments and multidisciplinary spaces.

But the culture scene in València doesn’t end there. And there are an ever-increasing number of young Valencians that stand out internationally in sectors like fashion, dance, cuisine, audio-visual production… If you don’t want to miss anything, take a look at our calendar and prepare your cultural visit to València.

Valencian Cusine - Millions of flavours to be discovered

If you want to get to know our cuisine, here is a delicious route for you to eat like a true Valencian:

Start the day with the energy that a good “almorzaret” gives you, the Valencian brunch, and make your way to el Saler to try a proper paella in an unbeatable location. If you wake up from a siesta and need a snack, then there’s nothing like a horchata with pastry fartons! And you can finish this culinary marathon having some seafood tapas for dinner, or a delicious suquet de peix, you decide…

Ok, maybe you need more than a day to try everything that our cuisine has to offer. And although paella is still the most well-known dish, we have one of the most acclaimed cuisines for various reasons. Proof of this can be found in the 4 Michelin stars and the 28 Repsol distinctions, that we owe to well-known chefs like Quique Dacosta and Ricard Camarena.

You shoud try:

Paella, Orange, Valencian tomato, Tapas, All i pebre, Suquet de peix.
